Some Q River Rail Trail History

SOME ALFRED J. LIMA QUEQUECHAN RIVER RAIL TRAIL CHRONOLOGICAL HISTORY FROM GREATER FALL RIVER PARTNERS FOR A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY'S WEB PAGES

“A river cuts through a rock not because of its power, but its persistence.” - James Watkins

If over the years you've followed our local advocacy for restoration of the horribly abused Quequechan River you probably figured nothing would ever happen to change for the better the river and its city. Well, something finally has happened ...and it is wonderful.

With the almost completed, for now, Alfred J. Lima Quequechan River Rail Trail it is great to see hundreds of people recreating along the river and renewed interest in enhancing and protecting more of that long neglected waterway.

This defiled and abandoned river, that gave Fall River its name and the city's reason for being, is once again proving to be of value to its city. Next, let's liberate/re-create the Quequechan's 130' falls.

Dave Weed is the Executive Director of Fall River's Partners for a Healthier Community. If you are local and do healthy things you probably know Dave. If not, Dave is the man with the camera photographing and recording local healthy activities and events.

Dave recently emailed the following to rail trail advocates: Just so you can all appreciate the progress and outcome of this project (so far!), I'm listing all of the Quequechan River Rail Trail web pages that I've created over the past twelve years, with the most recent first:
